See how builders reinterpret the V-Rod in these custom editions.
Some motorcycles are built to ride. Others are built to be remembered. This Harley-Davidson V-Rod Gulf Edition by Rick’s Motorcycles clearly belongs to the second category.
It starts with a vision—one rooted in racing heritage. The moment you see the light blue paint sliced by bold orange stripes, you’re transported to another era. The legendary Gulf colors, once seen flying down endurance circuits, now live again in a completely different form. But instead of a race car, they wrap around a low, muscular V-Rod that looks like it’s ready to launch off the line at any second.

Rick’s Motorcycles didn’t just repaint a bike—they reshaped its identity. The stance is the first thing that hits you. That enormous 280 rear tire, mounted on a 10.5” x 18” wheel, gives the bike a brutal, almost defiant posture. Up front, the 3.5” x 18” wheel keeps things balanced, while Metzeler Marathon tires ensure that this machine grips the road as aggressively as it looks. Beneath it all, a Legend Air suspension quietly does its job, adapting to the ride without stealing the spotlight.

Then come the details—the kind you only notice when you get closer. The handcrafted GFK components, from the RACE airbox cover to the wide rear fender, flow seamlessly into the custom tank and swingarm. Every line feels intentional, every curve designed to guide your eye from front to back without interruption. It’s minimal, but never simple.

Fire it up, and the story changes again. The modified 2-in-2 exhaust system delivers a deep, commanding sound—raw, mechanical, and unmistakably Harley-Davidson. The air intake breathes freely, giving the engine the voice it deserves. This isn’t just about performance; it’s about presence.

Sitting on the bike, your hands rest on a clean V-Rod 1 handlebar setup, framed by a Rick’s riser and finished with precision деталей. The mirrors—sleek Rizoma Circuit 744 units—offer a subtle contrast to the bike’s bold personality. Meanwhile, components from Arlen Ness add that final layer of craftsmanship where it matters most: the rider’s touchpoints.

Even the smallest elements tell part of the story. The compact Kellermann LED turn signals blend almost invisibly into the design, while the custom headlights give the bike a focused, almost predatory gaze. Nothing is accidental. Nothing is out of place.

In the end, this V-Rod isn’t just a custom build—it’s a reinterpretation of speed, style, and legacy. Rick’s Motorcycles has taken an already iconic platform and infused it with racing soul and modern craftsmanship. The result is a machine that doesn’t just sit still. Even parked, it feels like it’s moving.
