]]>The noble “Sunday Dress Slim” is a distinguished rendition of the Softail Slim FLSL 107. While much has been said about Rick’s approved “modular” or “kit system” for crafting exceptional custom bikes, the term “kit” may inadvertently diminish the inherent craftsmanship and individuality found in Rick’s unique and often bespoke parts, each meticulously assembled at the Baden-Baden workshops. Genuine high-class metalwork and extensive labor define Rick’s “Heavy Metal” components, exemplified in this creation featuring a solid metal front fender, an intricate fuel tank extension, and substantial tailends designed to support both rider and passenger with ease, all while exuding an air of refined elegance.
The Softail “Slim,” adorned in its “Sunday suit,” boasts a subtle and tasteful color scheme, meticulous finish, and undeniable allure, standing as a testament to Rick’s Motorcycles’ commitment to excellence.
Despite its designation as a “kit,” this project transcends mere component assembly, embodying a class of its own through the meticulous selection and seamless integration of its individual elements.
Originally favored by customizers during the Twin Cam era, the “Softail Slim” remains a popular choice even with the introduction of the “Milwaukee Eight” powered version in 2018. While discontinued for the US market in 2022, the FLSL continued to captivate European enthusiasts, especially at establishments like Harley-Davidson Baden-Baden.
Transformed from its factory bobber origins by the skilled hands of the Rick’s team, the “Slim” model serves as a canvas for boundless customization possibilities, with Rick’s Design Wheels and other bespoke components elevating it to new heights of sophistication and performance.
Thanks to Rick’s Motorcycles’ innovative solutions and meticulously engineered components, radical customizations like the “Sunday Dress Slim” can now be achieved without compromising the bike’s main frame structure or drivetrain.
The sophisticated “Fat Ass” Swingarm Kit by Rick’s, featured prominently on this build, ensures precise wheel alignment and optimal power transmission, while maintaining the integrity of the original frame and drivetrain components.
The transformation of the “Slim” extends to its suspension and braking systems, with upgrades such as the “Fat Boy” style fork and Air Suspension enhancing both performance and aesthetics.
Complemented by a host of Rick’s Customparts and meticulously applied paintwork, the “Sunday Dress Slim” epitomizes elegance and sophistication, showcasing a harmonious blend of form and function that sets it apart as a true masterpiece of custom motorcycle design.

]]>At Rick’s Motorcycles, located in Baden-Baden, you can find the perfectly matched “Beat Age” Harley-Davidson “Fat Boy,” rolling on Rick’s meticulously designed wheels. This ride exudes an air of sophistication with its seamless lines, expertly crafted Rick’s equipment, and a sleek “blue-in-blue” paint job that accentuates its elegance.
Do you always need the widest tire available? Absolutely not! As exemplified by this exceptional wide-tire Rick’s Custom, a Rick’s wheel design alone is enough to turn heads, especially when it’s one of their seldom-requested designs. The three-piece “Rival” 5-Spoke Design Wheel, assembled with intricate CNC machining on its five detailed spokes, is a unique and rarely seen choice.
With a 260 mm Metzeler tire and a 9.0 x 18” wheel size that fits seamlessly into the stock swingarm of the wide Milwaukee Eight Softail frame, introduced alongside the M8 engines in 2018, it provides a sufficiently bold “Fat Tire” appearance.
To showcase the Design Wheel’s full splendor from the right side, Rick’s signature Drive Side Brake System has been added to this Rick’s classic. The stock swingarm has been refined and streamlined through a meticulous “fine finish” process at Rick’s sheet metal shop. Complementing the “Rival” wheels are “Bob” design brake rotors and a drive pulley, all elegantly powder-coated in black.
Rick’s 260 tailend for the M8 “Fat Boy” reveals a substantial section of the tire to onlookers, with the solid, weighty metal fender descending almost to the tire thanks to the Air Suspension. Kellermann Atto 3-in-1 lights and Rick’s compact license plate holder keep the rear section uncluttered.
The seat, crafted using the base plate included in the tailend kit, seamlessly connects to Rick’s stretch tank extension. The level of professionalism and precision in this “Made by Rick’s” extension is evident to all, with its matte finish leaving no room for imperfections. This impeccable sheet metalwork also extends to the iconic Fat Boy fork, with a Rick’s steel front fender in the 18″ version fitting snugly around the tire.
When it comes to equipment and accessories, “Blue Thunder” boasts an extensive selection from Rick’s lineup: V-Rod handlebars, Classic 32-mm risers, “Good Guys” grip set for E-Gas, adjustable “Good Guys” hand levers, along with Atto LED turn signals mounted on Rick’s brackets, O-ring peg-equipped forward controls, and the “Porthole” clutch cover – a lengthy list of parts proudly crafted in Baden-Baden! Even the Rick’s GG2 “BANDIT” air filter was precision-engineered on the CNC machines at Flugstraße 1, expertly calibrated to the Kess Tech exhaust system on Rick’s in-house dyno.

]]>The “EAS 300 swingarm” represents the culmination of years of experience with the first-ever V-Rod single-sided swingarm and Rick’s widely popular “Fat Ass” kit, which is renowned for its unique intermediate shaft construction. This engineering marvel by Rick is a testament to their expertise, although its true brilliance is somewhat concealed when installed and coated with a sleek black powder finish, especially on this bike with its “black-in-black” aesthetic.
However, don’t be deceived; this component is a pioneering feat in terms of complexity, functionality, and its clean appearance. In fact, it stands as the sole “Milwaukee-Eight” single-sided swingarm designed to accommodate wide tires up to 300 width while featuring a jackshaft that operates within the swingarm pivot axis. It seamlessly complements the wheel styles found in Rick’s Design Wheel program and was meticulously tailored to meet the demands of high-performance engines and wide tires.
Within the frames of “Breakout” and “Fat Boy” models with the Milwaukee Eight engine, the tires roll precisely centered, devoid of any misalignment or offset. The clear sightline to the right side of the wheel is made possible through Rick’s proven “Drive Side” relocation of the brake disc and caliper to the left side of the wheel. The “short” drive belt, extending from the transmission output to the intermediate shaft, is virtually concealed behind the frame and swingarm structure.
Furthermore, the rear belt pulley and the rotating swingarm axle pulley cover harmonize flawlessly with the “7-Sins” design wheels, presented here in the iconic three-piece assembled version. A black powder coating, combined with natural metal nuts and bolts, defines its effortlessly cool appearance. This aluminum work of art is, of course, equipped with Air-Suspension, allowing the tail end to be lowered nearly to the rear Metzeler rubber when parked.
Although the remaining modifications adhere to Rick’s standard practices, they should not be overlooked: a tail section featuring stylish air-duct-like “outlets,” an elongated tank, a snugly fitted metal front fender, and signature Rick’s accessories such as a side-mounted license plate, headlight mask, Road King touring handlebars, turn signal brackets for Kellermann’s Atto, “Good Guys” grips, and an air cleaner. Additionally, various engine and primary covers, as well as Rick’s established forward controls, offering a 2-inch forward riding position, contribute to the distinct “Dark Look” of this bike.
No expense was spared to achieve this unique aesthetic, even the fork underwent a complete disassembly to apply a DLC coating (DLC = Diamond-Like Carbon) to darken the downtubes. Various engine and accessory parts were powder-coated black, and Rick’s handcrafted sheet-metal components were painted in the same striking shade. Naturally, all wheel components – wheel centers, brake rotors, and belt pulley – are precision CNC-machined in the signature “7-Sins” design.
A small plate affixed to the front cylinder head discreetly showcases additional “hidden” enhancements on this ride: “Stage IV” signifies that extra horsepower has been unlocked in the engine during the sheet metal work. As evidenced by the Kess-Tech exhaust system in a “Racing Style” appearance, the system was finely tuned and mapped to the engine, complemented by Rick’s “Good Guys” air filter, all fine-tuned on their in-house dyno test bench.
The inaugural “EAS 300” Breakout conversion from Rick’s Motorcycles is undoubtedly just the beginning, as several more projects are already in progress, with the sophisticated EAS swingarms for them having already been precision-machined. Rest assured, these conversions are fully homologated and road-legal, thanks to Rick’s Motorcycles’ commitment to making it happen. ]]>While many people crave a colorful life, for a number of Harley riders, black and white is more than enough. This is definitely the case with the highly modified “Fat Bob” you see here!
Thanks to Rick’s, this FXFBS Milwaukee Eight Softail conversion is a super-clean powerhouse. It’s refined in every way, without being too overloaded – Rick’s “elegance” at its finest.
While the traditional “Fat Bob” design saw a complete overhaul, the Rick’s team added yet another layer of customization to this stock Harley look: a “Fat Look” of the very best kind. With epic proportions and an air suspension for an extremely low seating position, the Rick’s design wheel set of stylish three-piece assembled disc wheels is where the journey truly takes off.
Many components on this custom Harley remained in their original, stock condition because the bike itself already has a top-of-the-line rolling chassis, upside down fork, and dragster-like acceleration. The added Rick’s “Fat Ass” swingarm allows for “Dragstrip” tire dimensions, without sacrificing the riding characteristics of this highly customized street bike.
Over the massive 10.5-inch rim width, the 300 tire spreads out to a truly dominant size – and even the KessTech adjustable Sound System is short as it is, you still have an unrestricted view of the tire and wheel.
The seat and tank-to-seat cover provide the perfect visual connection to the stock fuel tank. At the front end, Rick’s front mudguard is as close as possible to the radius of the 18-inch front tire, making it one of the cleanest installations available.
The only parts that are kept in matte white color are the body parts – the stock fuel tank, Rick’s rear fender, and front fender. In the darkened look, the Rick’s Softail covers on the front wheel axle almost disappear entirely.
Every Rick’s project starts with a blank sheet of paper – and if you want to achieve this level of customization for your “Fat Bob,” you should give the Rick’s team full creative license. The result will be something you’ll want to show off and blast off with pride!

]]>La entrada High-end speed tourer: Ricks 26-Inch wheel Bagger! aparece primero en DARK KUSTOM.
]]>The project was started on a Rick’s client’s request and did start with a stock 2021 model year “Road King” – which had to be partially taken apart and modified quite extensively – Steering head modifications for 26 and 30 Inch wheels have been performed at Rick‘s „House of Custom“ and still are offered for Rick‘s Customers.
As early as 2012/2013, Rick‘s had acquired special equipment to mount „big rubbers“ of 23, 26 and 30 Inch to the wheels without using levers, thus a safe and fast mounting without problems. What might be a surprising fact: Rick’s 26 and 30 Inch frame modifications are performed without taking the engine out of the frame – which considerably speeds up the procedure and lowers the costs. Only the forward section of the frame is affected and is repainted, the conversion is done by a sophisticated set of approved Rick’s parts and customizing skills.
For 26 and 30 Inch wheels – Rick‘s 26-Inchers have been available in the designs „Super Steve“, „Rick Rod“ and „Gimme Five“ – the Rick‘s team had developed new 15-Inch brake discs which work superb with Rick‘s „Good Guys“ lower fork legs and Rick‘s clean 6-piston brake calipers, yet this bike uses the stock brake calipers and a 13-Inch Rick’s rotor in matching “Seven Sins” design plus the fitting extension adapters. The stock frame is modified in the steering angle and Rick’s special made 9° triple-trees are added. That includes the Legend Air suspension at the rear which adds to the cool look when the bike is in “parking position” and lowered to the ground.
Components, that soon became – and still are – top-sellers of the scene, since they were created from the rider for the rider: Simple exchange, excellent “everyday use” suitability and superior manufacturing quality founded Rick’s reputation at both authorized Harley-Dealers and independent customizers for a long time. And the fact that Rick’s parts are always improved after specific „road-test“ experiences, which Rick often performs himself. The 8” bag kit with stretched fender and Rick’s own sidefiller kit is utilized in the project, also the “Road King” headlight nacelle which points the stock M8 headlight into the correct angle and direction: Fast forward!
The parts list reads like an almost complete “dictionary” of Rick’s components, as grip’s, levers, handlebar, metal front fender and numerous details are Rick’s made or – as the tank – handcrafted for this project. Seat is a HD CVO part, as is the passenger pad.
Of course a fast-looking bike like this is run on Rick’s in-house dyno to add a few extra horses – and for a perfect mapping of all engine components like air filter and HD “Street Cannon” mufflers.

]]>One example is this Harley-Davidson Softail Fat Boy modified by Rick’s Motorcycles of Germany. Rick’s Motorcycles is a well-known name in the custom bike world and they’ve put their mark on this bike with a few distinctive parts.
Starting with the color, this Softail Fat Boy has a sleek and understated gray finish. It’s the perfect backdrop for the other custom parts added by Rick’s Motorcycles, which really stand out against the neutral hue. One of the most noticeable changes is the Wheels.
The Rick’s Motorcycles wheels are 10.5 inches by 18 inches in the back and 3.5 inches by 18 inches in the front, providing a beefed-up look and added stability while riding. Mounted on top of those wheels are Metzeler Marathon tires in 300/35 18 inches in the back and 130/60 18 inches in the front.
The exhaust system also received a significant upgrade with the Dr. Jekill and Mr. Hyde system. This system allows the rider to adjust the sound and performance of their exhaust on the fly, thanks to a remote control.
In addition to the exhaust, Rick’s Motorcycles also provided a custom front and rear fender, air cleaner, fork, license plate holder, swingarm, riser, and handlebar. Needless to say, this bike has been extensively modified.
Riding a Harley is all about comfort and style, which is why this Softail Fat Boy now features a Legend Air shock and custom grips and pegs from Rick’s Motorcycles. These modifications not only improve the overall ride quality, but they also make it more comfortable for the rider, especially on longer rides. The gas tank is also a custom design from Rick’s Motorcycles, adding yet another unique touch to this modified bike.
The custom parts and additions from Rick’s Motorcycles have taken an already impressive bike and made it even more striking and powerful.

]]>A diabolically cool Fat Boy that has been customized by Rick’s Motorcycles is a stunning example of how the brand’s parts can be utilized in the latest available Milwaukee Eight Softail models, especially the iconic “Fat Boy”.
The bike is superbly refined in both appearance and technology, and embodies the evolution of the design towards the Milwaukee Eight engine and newly designed Softail suspension for the 2018 model year.
Once again, the Rick’s team has achieved its bold objective of refining and redefining Harley-Davidson’s solid foundation. Whether requiring just a little tweaking or substantial time and effort, every project that emerges from Rick’s workshop is always cutting-edge.
The Rick’s program provides a wide V-Rod handlebar mounted atop the front end with Rick’s standard risers, “Good Guys” grips, and adjustable hand levers. The Kellermann “Atto” turn signals are almost imperceptibly mounted on Rick’s brackets beneath the controls.
In addition, a Rick’s front fender achieves a closer fit to the front wheel than the stock fender, and it was included as part of the repaint job.
Included in the tailend conversion package is a solid “full metal” version of Rick’s “Fat Boy” fender kit, which allows for easy mounting of a 260 tire onto the standard 8-inch-wide wheel.
The addition of Air Suspension Kellermann and “Atto” LED lights in the rear, as well as a side-mounted license plate, gives the bike a sleek and compact appearance.
Despite the stock model’s floorboards still bearing a hint of the “Fat Boy” legacy, the addition of Rick’s GG II “Bandit” airfilter and a sound-modifiable Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde exhaust system not only deliver the hallmark Harley sound but also enhance its visually captivating appearance.

Rick’s offers complete conversion kits for almost all Harley-Davidson models. Each single one is largely handcrafted from high-quality steel. The material strengths of struts and fenders are so high that even a passenger can be carried without any problems. In addition to the suitable fender for the later tire dimension, the kits contain the correct seat base plate, a tank cover for a smooth transition from seat to tank and the necessary mounting kit.
So that the bike also looks good when stationary, an airride system was added. With this, the bike can, as required, be lifted to a desired ride level or lowered for an ultra-low look, as seen in these photos, in seconds by simply pressing a button. The steel front fender is also made by Rick’s specially for the Fat Boy models. While here an extra short version was used, Rick’s also offers another version in standard length.
Handlebar and risers from Rick’s ensure an optimized sitting position, and due to Rick’s rubberized grips the hands find a safe halt. The adjustable brake and clutch levers are unbeatable. Depending on the size of the hands or gloves, the distance from grip to lever can be adjusted, and thanks to the supplied extensions, even the lever length can be adjusted. Rick’s derby cover has a Makrolon window which allows a view of the clutch mechanics. Instead of the plastic stock belt cover, Rick’s coated stainless steel belt cover was mounted. The side license plate holder on a Harley is almost a must, and on this Fat Boy it is, of course, also from Rick’s Motorcycles’ production.
Rick’s flow-optimized air filters are available in various designs for almost all Harley-Davidson models. Here the design “Bandit” was selected, which now ensures optimal fresh air supply.
Lastly there remains the question about the indicators. It is quite intentional that they can’t be spotted at first. With the Atto indicators, Kellermann probably has the smallest indicator with an ECE test certificate in its program that can be used legally on the road. At the rear, the Atto DF 3 in 1 version is used, which in addition to the indicator also houses brake and rear light. At the front the indicator is enough. Here the Attos are mounted with Rick’s adapters below the instruments to the mirror screw.
