Harley-Davidson FXDR ‘WideHorn’ by Limitless Customs

Harley-Davidson FXDR ‘WideHorn’ by Limitless Customs

Some motorcycles are customized to look cleaner.

Others are modified to go faster. Then there are builds like the Harley-Davidson FXDR “WideHorn” by Limitless Customs, a machine that takes the muscular character of Harley-Davidson’s modern power cruiser and pushes it into much more aggressive territory.

The Harley-Davidson FXDR was already an unconventional motorcycle when it left the factory. With its long wheelbase, low seat, inverted front suspension, massive rear tire and Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine, it combined traditional American V-twin character with a more performance-focused attitude. Limitless Customs has taken that unusual starting point and created a custom motorcycle with an even stronger visual identity.

The name “WideHorn” is particularly appropriate. The FXDR’s broad proportions have been embraced rather than toned down, resulting in a motorcycle that looks low, wide and planted. This is not a minimalist café racer or a stripped-back bobber. It is a full-blooded custom power cruiser that makes its size and presence part of the design.

At the heart of the WideHorn is Harley-Davidson’s Milwaukee-Eight 114 V-twin. The 1,868 cc engine features a 102 mm bore and a 4.5-inch stroke, with a 10.5:1 compression ratio. Fuel is delivered through Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection, while the engine produces a substantial 161 Nm (119 lb-ft) of torque at 3,500 rpm.

That torque figure is central to the FXDR experience. Rather than relying on high revs, the Milwaukee-Eight delivers its performance low in the rev range, giving the motorcycle the kind of immediate, muscular acceleration expected from a large-capacity Harley-Davidson V-twin. On a custom like WideHorn, that character is just as important as outright horsepower.

Power is sent through a six-speed Cruise Drive gearbox and a wet multi-plate clutch, with chain final drive. The mechanical package gives the WideHorn a distinctly modern interpretation of the American power cruiser, combining traditional V-twin torque with a chassis designed to handle more than just relaxed cruising.

The FXDR also came from the factory with hardware that makes it an interesting platform for customization. Up front is a 43 mm inverted single-cartridge fork with aluminum triple clamps and a triple-rate spring. At the rear, a hidden free-piston coil-over monoshock provides 43 mm of stroke and tool-free hydraulic preload adjustment.

Braking comes from dual 300 mm discs at the front and a 292 mm disc at the rear. The chassis is based around a steel tubular frame, giving the motorcycle a solid foundation while maintaining the long, low proportions that define the FXDR.

Those proportions are impressive on paper. The bike measures 2,416 mm in length and 930 mm in width, with a 1,737 mm wheelbase and a low 724 mm seat height. Ground clearance is 135 mm, while the motorcycle weighs 303 kg and carries 16.7 litres of fuel.

The tire combination contributes heavily to the motorcycle’s stance. A 120/70ZR19 60W tire is fitted at the front, while the rear gets a huge 240/40R18 79V. That broad rear rubber gives the FXDR its unmistakable power-cruiser silhouette and reinforces the visual impact of the WideHorn conversion.

What makes the Limitless Customs build particularly interesting is the way it works with the original motorcycle rather than trying to disguise it. The FXDR was designed around an aggressive, stretched and muscular aesthetic, and WideHorn takes those characteristics to their logical extreme.

The result is a Harley-Davidson that sits somewhere between a traditional cruiser and a modern performance machine. It retains the unmistakable character of a big American V-twin, but its proportions and custom treatment give it a much more contemporary presence.

The Harley-Davidson FXDR “WideHorn” by Limitless Customs is ultimately a motorcycle about attitude. The 1,868 cc Milwaukee-Eight 114 supplies the torque, the long chassis and 240-section rear tire provide the stance, and the custom work turns those factory ingredients into something far more distinctive.

It is wide, low and unapologetically muscular. More importantly, it feels true to the original FXDR concept while giving the bike a personality of its own. WideHorn doesn’t reinvent Harley-Davidson’s power cruiser—it simply turns everything that makes the FXDR interesting up to eleven.
