The noble “Sunday Dress Slim” is a distinguished rendition of the Softail Slim FLSL 107. While much has been said about Rick’s approved “modular” or “kit system” for crafting exceptional custom bikes, the term “kit” may inadvertently diminish the inherent craftsmanship and individuality found in Rick’s unique and often bespoke parts, each meticulously assembled at the Baden-Baden workshops. Genuine high-class metalwork and extensive labor define Rick’s “Heavy Metal” components, exemplified in this creation featuring a solid metal front fender, an intricate fuel tank extension, and substantial tailends designed to support both rider and passenger with ease, all while exuding an air of refined elegance.
The Softail “Slim,” adorned in its “Sunday suit,” boasts a subtle and tasteful color scheme, meticulous finish, and undeniable allure, standing as a testament to Rick’s Motorcycles’ commitment to excellence.
Despite its designation as a “kit,” this project transcends mere component assembly, embodying a class of its own through the meticulous selection and seamless integration of its individual elements.
Originally favored by customizers during the Twin Cam era, the “Softail Slim” remains a popular choice even with the introduction of the “Milwaukee Eight” powered version in 2018. While discontinued for the US market in 2022, the FLSL continued to captivate European enthusiasts, especially at establishments like Harley-Davidson Baden-Baden.
Transformed from its factory bobber origins by the skilled hands of the Rick’s team, the “Slim” model serves as a canvas for boundless customization possibilities, with Rick’s Design Wheels and other bespoke components elevating it to new heights of sophistication and performance.

Its remarkable lowrider catches the eye with its gleaming wheels and reimagined panniers – not gaudy or excessive, but just the right touch.
The design of the Low Rider wheels appeared particularly suited for the golden embellishment. With its five sturdy spokes, they align perfectly with the theme, accentuated further by the 23-inch front wheel.
The panniers represent another highlight. Ensuring they seamlessly integrated with the motorcycle’s silhouette was paramount.
After experimenting with various options on the Heritage’s rear, the old Shovel panniers emerged victorious.
They served as the blueprint for the new cases, complementing rather than overshadowing the fender, elongated exhaust with fishtails, or the motorcycle as a whole. Furthermore, adjustments were made to ensure symmetrical positioning despite the presence of the pulley brake and belt.
Indicators and license plates were also included. The inconspicuous mounting of the Strut Stripe indicators on the Struts proved ideal. Additionally, a new license plate holder was developed for the Chicano fenders, discreetly holding the plate without drawing undue attention.
While exercising restraint with the golden highlights, they still make a statement. The lamp ring, ignition cover, air filter cover and screws, tappet cover, rocker cover, axle cover, fork screws, primary cover, and even the running boards received accents.
The golden bolts within the black rim bowls serve as visual focal points.
The color scheme, featuring seductive Bordeaux with subtle black flames and glossy golden accents, flawlessly brings to life Chiko’s pinstriping.
Spirit Leather plays an indispensable role in this impressive endeavor, with its smooth perforated leatherwork, elegant design, and striking details including embossing and elegantly milled gold medallions on both straps.
It’s worth noting that an air ride system is installed both at the front and rear. However, it’s evident that no detail has been overlooked on El Patron, the quintessential leader among their Chicano creations, particularly when it comes to the captivating show effect.

The Sportster S, boasting a modern chassis and the remarkably agile Rev-Max 1250T engine, not only offers a broad rev range due to its variable timing but also packs a staggering peak power of 122 hp on the road. This makes it an ideal foundation for Thunderbike’s supersport custom projects.
In this instance, their project underwent significant modifications. They incorporated the sporty GT wheels, sized 6.00 x 18 inches at the rear and 3.50 x 21 inches at the front. A groundbreaking development involved the redesign of the Sportster S’s front wheel to accommodate dual brake discs for the first time.
This required new milled brake caliper mounts for the upside-down fork and the addition of a Brembo radial brake caliper. To enhance responsiveness, they also coated the stanchions in gold DLC.
To complement the sporty concept, the bike received a revamped seating position through Thunderbike’s relocated footrest system and custom triple clamps with mounts for a flat handlebar specifically crafted for the Sportster S. This adjustment ensures that the riding position aligns perfectly with the bike’s new dynamics.
The alteration to a 21″ front wheel and 340 mm brake discs not only enhances the bike’s sporty appearance but also boosts its agility. The slimmer front tire notably improves handling, while the upgraded brake system, featuring dual-disc brakes, delivers exceptional performance.
The project incorporates meticulously crafted parts from Thunderbike’s SPS series, including the radiator cowling, engine cover, pulley cover, shock absorber cover, headlight cowling, grips, indicators, and more, all finely milled. The paint scheme, conceptualized by Kruse Design, consistently underscores the bike’s sporting ambitions.
The sleek exhaust system from J&H seamlessly integrates with the overall design. Additionally, the seat, crafted by Spirit Leather, not only enhances aesthetics but also offers optimized support with its improved shape.
